The RFA salaries are horrendous! And you don't sign a UFA then trade them.

IMO not one of those trades would be accepted by the respective teams . And there are things called no trade or no movement clauses.

And last you just gutted most of the Oilers depth and young players. Bravo....

From a Caps perspective, that high first pick, Bear,and Puljujarvi are awesome. Would love to add more guys on ELC's, like Yamamoto and Mantha, and have no trouble throwing in Burakovsky, a 3rd, and a couple of weaker prospects. Don't need Benning if trading Holtby creates cap space to sign Carlson, unless the Caps are giving up on highy regarded prospect Madison Bowey after just one partial season. I think he did okay.

I think Matt Benning would help out Buffalo, but even if you add him to that offer, you have to retain some salary.
