How I imagine offseason negotiations being presented...

Paul Stastny - We have a one year window with Laine, Connor and Wheeler on their existing deals to make another serious run at the cup. We will keep you between two budding superstars and you can put up huge numbers and get another legitimate shot at a cup. Next year you can parley that into a long-term payday. How does $5M sound?

Jacob Trouba - We see you and Josh as the current and future top pairing defencement for our club. We need to put to rest all the rumours about Winnipeg as a desirable destination. How about a max 8 year extension worth $6.25M/year for an even $50M?

Josh Morrissey - see above only $5M/yr

Connor Hellebuyck - hell of a year Connor. If you can put up numbers like these for two more seasons, we will make you one of the highest paid goalies in the world. Prove us right for trading away Mason. $3M for 2 years bridge deal.

Lowry, Armia, Tanev, Copp, Petan, Dano - there are 3 spots on the fourth line this season and 1 spot in the top 9 coming available next season. Prove to us you deserve one of them.

Kind of crazy when you think about it, Trouba requested a trade out of WPG two years ago and now he's their best d-man on a team that is one of the best in the NHL.

I see Jacob Trouba taking Kevin Cheveldayoff to the cleaners here, No way i see Trouba resigning in Winnipeg for any thing less then 8 years $56 million $7 million per AAV he might even want more closer to $7.5 million AAV.

Parayko makes 5.5, I cant see Trouba making that much more. Would think Trouba gets around 6.5 if he stays in Winnipeg.
Great explanations on the negotiations I think all players agree.

It's too bad Winnie can't negotiate a per-games-played contract with Trouba...he's a great player, but ALWAYS getting hurt. He's only played more than 65 games in ONE season. Let that sink in a bit before you back up the money truck in front of his house...

Hellebuyck will be 25 this May. If he were to sign a 2 year bridge deal, would he not be eligible to become a UFA after the second year of this deal on his 27th birthday? If that is the case, 30 other teams might have the opportunity to make him one of the highest paid goalies in the league.

Very good point. Helle is still 24 I believe and I thought the Jets still had three years of control left. If not, then 1 year is the max bridge deal they could consider.

Something has to give in Peg. Doubt Helle takes a bridge deal. Trouba and Helle will cost 3-4m more. Mason as a 4+m backup doesn't get you a good pick. Then the following year short 4-7m.

Winnipeg wouldn’t be the first team to negotiate with players on the premise of keeping everyone together.
