Take out JvR, resign Neal, and put him w/Haula and Perron like this year, and move Smith back with Karlsson and Marchessault. Tatar with Tavares and Grabner. ? dropped! That’s my team!

Sure, if Neal doesn't want a raise. JVR is a year and a half younger, an inch taller, almost a million cheaper in terms of previous salary, and although he has way fewer career goals, he has a couple more this season. So he seems like a good enough replacement if Neal walks and gets 7M elsewhere. I mean, yes, I could trade away Eakin for cap space to keep Neal, but I like having depth.

More importantly, what's that emoji?

Neal wont make 7M unless there’s a really desperate team out there. 6M is fine, and he already fits in chemistry wise.
About the Eakin thing, this team would need to trade him 1st as a cap space thing. The team has enough depth in the middle w/Carpenter, Bellemare, Haula, plus guys for the future like Glass and Suzuki.
Also, it’s a microphone ?...

Eakin, like Bellemare, Haula, and pretty much anybody, can play wing. It's not hard to do. It's like you're playing center, but then on defense, you just chill out by the point, and watch the game for a minute.

Green is on record saying that he wants to finish his career in Detroit, Plus no way is Green signing for only $4 million i'd say $5 million at the very least no way he's taking a $2 million paycut.

Oh, well, I'm sure he always follows through on those kinds of sentiments: https://www.russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2015/03/18/pending-ufa-mike-green-wants-to-stay-in-washington-until-the-day-i-die-or-retire/

Also, don't read this: https://www.russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2018/01/30/offseason-mike-green-bought-house-washington-dc/

So, yeah, maybe the VGK trade Eakin for cap space and sign Carlson.

Honestly i don't want Holland to resign Mike Green, That herniated disc in his neck concerns me. Plus i'd rather give the kids a shot. I think that Fillip Hronek kid is going to be pretty good.

The Caps have Madison Bowey in Hershey who, through 50 games this year scored even strength points faster than Green, in similarly sheltered minutes, although not as many minutes, so not as many points. Should keep improving. I'm not sure how much they offer Green, but I think he's still got some fans in town, and some friends on the team. Could be a good fit if they can't afford Carlson. If they add both and leave Bowey in the AHL, it'd be kind of a waste, though.
