This team needs a lot more than just 3 trades in order to compete again. At least your doing more high profile trades though, ill give you that. But yea benning will most likely do a small amount of trades like this but with lesser players. In short, our long term outlook is bleak.

Signings: 5/5 - They're all realistic and fair. Maybe 2 year deals for Granlund and Virtanen instead of 3

Trades: 3/5 - I can see where you're going with this and the intent is right. I've never thought of Baertschi as a fit in Carolina, but it would be. A 1st might be a fair return. Would I do it? No, because I think keeping Baertschi is more beneficial, but it's a fair trade nonetheless. As for Gagner, I'm not sure Nashville really needs another forward, a Centermen at that. He's also had a down year, so despite the retention, they don't have much need for him. MDZ was rumoured to go to Chicago some months ago, but now that they're also probably focused on rebuilding I'm not sure they'd want him. Saying that, Goldobin in there makes the deal have more sense.

Lineup: 5/5. If that's the team they have to work with, the lineup is done beautifully. I'd rather Boucher over Eriksson and Motte, and I'd want that Gaudette line to get more ice time than the Sutter and Sedin lines, but still a job well done.

Overall: 13/15 (4.3 stars)

Yup exactly and the sutter line should be last with boucher over motte. Also same with what booth7 said about the contracts but also Baertschi should get less, maybe 3 million or less.

Yeah I think the Sutter and Gaudette line would play equal minutes. Just that the Sutter line would be getting a lot of d-zone starts. I like Motte more as I feel that line could use some speed and he is better at getting out of his own zone.

Just was thinking Gagner could replace Fisher in Nashville next year. Is Gagner moveable with salary retention? And what for?

I had debated Pittsburgh as another potential place for del Zotto. I don't think Chicago can be committed to a rebuild as they still have Kane, Toews and Keith. I wouldn't be surprised if they give it a try one last time. Also Goldobin would give them a potential cost effective top 6 forward that they desperately coukd use.

I too would like to see a high profile trade for a defence man, but that's easier said than done. I look at Winnipeg with Trouba as a possible target. They have signed Ehlers to a 5 million raise, they need to sign Morrisey, Trouba and Helleybuck, who will all be in line for a big raise. Then in the following year they need to sign Laine, Connor and Copp. Cap hell is coming to Winnipeg soon.
I wonder if someone like a cost controlled Tanev, a prospect (Lind) and a pick could get Trouba?
