Probably would need 2019 1st as well but I don't think it isn't unfair.

i dont mind the value hypothetically - i think if you retained on ROR it would be better (obviously) but value is pretty ok

I get what you are doing, but idk why Buffalo would make this move. Both the Sabres and Oilers right now are perfect examples of “one player won’t get your team anywhere.” Having them as your 1-2 punch is great, but this team’s depth is shot everywhere else.

Your really asking yourself why Buffalo would do this trade, it's McDavid. McDavid then eichel on the second line would be dangerous, McDavid makes the players he plays with better too. The fact though, is that McDavid is untouchable.

Trading for McDavid 1. Somehow makes us even more top heavy than we already are and 2. Moves out 4 quality nhl assets that a team already lacking in depth absolutely needs. If one of McEichel goes down, this team is toast. Not many proven nhl forwards past them, a practically unimproved defense that is one of the worst this season, and potentially good goaltending. We would be a bottom-dweller again while Edmonton made the playoffs

Buffalo would be smart to make this move even tho Edmonton would almost certainly say no. Buffalo would be trading ROR (bad contract), Scandella (replaceable), 2018 1st (only a 20% chance of getting dahlin!) and Robin Lehner (replaceable), for the games best player. 8 years of McDavid and Eichel in their prime would be more than worth it.

I highly disagree, your replacing ROR with McDavid so depth wise that breaks even, everyone is selling Lehner and goalies in FA are cheap. theyre moving Scandella and Dahlin out hirts the D depth a little but they still have a high second rounder with a lot ofgood dmen still projected to be there and they can address it in free agency as I have done on this team. The one I put together up top is a playoff team. Olofsson and nylander get boosted just because of who their line mates are so i wouldnt even be worried about bringing them up next year

IDK why you all keep saying ROR is on a bad contract he has .75 PPG average and is one of the best faceoff men in the league. He's this teams Chris Drury. He'll end up with 62 points on the 2nd lowest scoring team in the league. He's on par with everyone else in his price range

The team’s biggest needs isn’t at center, it’s on defense. Once the defense is finally revamped and the wings are filled out better this team will be fine. The problem with the deal is moving out probably our 2nd best defender in Scandella and a franchise 18yr old in Dahlin who has a good chance of taking over #1 from Risto in his career. You then replaced Scandella and Dahlin in the lineup with McCabe who didn’t prove much under Housley yet and Pateryn who has been a depth guy most of his career and have overpaid him for one good season. Rushing Nylander and Olofsson would not be wise either. Nylander (unless he has a huge offseason) probably needs one more year in the AHL and Olofsson is going to need a at least a season or two in AHL to get accustomed to the NA ice/game. I see this team getting torched night in and night out even if McEichel both have 80+ point seasons.

PS: I almost didn’t recognize you with the picture change haha

In reality the need to boost their D depth yes. In this fantasy world, they would just load the team up front and hope their top 2 pairs can keep the other teams at bay and move the puck to McEichel, like Pit or Col right now.
