Edmonton is better off trading down a few spots and getting a RHD (Dobson, Bouchard, Boqvist). They'll get a prospect for the trade too or maybe even a 2nd 1st rounder depending on the team.

But that defender could take 3 to 4 seasons to become a NHL impact defender. This roster was built towards a win now mode. Hughes or Bouchard wouldn't help that cause from Draft year +1

I'd rather have Zadina and Yamamoto instead of trading for Hoffman. Most likely you'll only have Hoffman for 2 seasons, but get Zadina and Yam for 8 years of control

Oilers don't ******* deserve a draft pick anywhere near the top 10. All the chances and high picks, as well as getting mcdavid when you shouldn't, the organization is run by idiots
