I can see Vegas resigning Neal and Perron, why not, they are kinda folk heroes with a new franchise. I don't understand all the love for Karlsson with just one year on his contract. That's a lot to give up especially when taking the overpaid Ryan. Be a thousand times better offer seeing what UFA brings in 2019 than making that Ottawa deal.

I like what Karlsson has done this year but man - giving a guy a 6 year contract for one season of "star" production is risky - very risky.... How many times have we seen a pending UFA put up epic numbers only to sign a huge lucrative contract and never reach those numbers again? it happens all the time.

As far as James Neal - the guy is 33 so I highly doubt he will get a 4 year deal at his age. I think a 2 year deal at 5 per is more likely.

I think Perron is about right, he's 29 - but like Karlsson he's having a career year so it will be interesting to see what happens there.

I mean if Vegas doesn't play their cards right they could screw up their future really quick ...... Remember, there is a reason why a lot of these guys were exposed in the expansion draft, and it wasn't because they were consistently good players with bright futures.

So yea, if I'm Vegas I'm approaching this summer conservatively and cautiously..

I don't think taking all that salary and being so cap strapped is a good idea. I get that Karlsson is elite and all that. Why not just sign John Carlson instead? Keep the prospects and picks, save yourself from the Ryan contract. Why go into cap hell in the early stages of the teams life? Don't fix what isn't broken.

I totally agree. I think the Tatar trade (as much as i like him) was risky. I respect the fact that they didn't "chicken out" on this surprisingly great year.
ps I just wanted to see how the numbers would look on this trade, im not a supporter of it
