Description
Draft Dahlin and sign Tavares. Potential of Drafting Dahlin could attract Tavares to sign with MTL (as well as a nice $14/year deal). A team with Price, Dahlin, Weber, Pacioretty, Galchenyuk, Drouin could attract him. Pacioretty could be then MTL's "own rental' come playoff time and could take a discount to stay if he sees Tavares as his Center to play with.

Schlemko sucks and Weber’s older and coming off an injury, so that’s a big concern. I think another RHD is needed, and Galchenyuk’s relationship with MTL at this point is ?. There’s you’re next trade.

Come draft day i am sure schlemko can get a 3rd or 4th (EDM recieved a 3rd for Davidson) and Webers game was never about speed so thats nothing to worry about (See Chara playing with McAvoy). Dahlin would do all the offensive work while Weber plays sound defensive hockey with a boom of a shot. Montreal also have Petry and Juulsen on the right so not as much of a necessity as a LD or a C is.

Tavares wants to win a cup so he won't sign for a team that has a GM as bad as Chiarelli or Bergevin. Neither will he sign for a team that will have two injury prone 40yos making over 18m between them both!

If your referring to Price and Weber they are 30 and 32. Weber will be 40 AT THE END of his contract ( a year after Tavares' contract would expire) and Price would be 38 by the end of his. Edmonton would never be an option because of the lack of cap space but MTL can pay him handsomely and have pieces that can attract him to come that the islanders don't have to make him stay.

Look for my first comment for a response for ur first part. As for the Galchenuk piece, why would he re sign if it was so garbage? Misuse was an issue i agree, however, he is playing some of his better hockey recently and looks decent with Drouin.

I would just think they might help a team for a couple more years IF they stop getting injured. I would imagine that they will severely limit a team in the second half of their contracts as both guys near 40 years old.

Montreal also has contracts like Shaw, Alzner, Petry ( as he ages) which can be moved for space, and an increase in Salary cap could keep the habs in the clear if they go all out for Tavares

I like this but the numbers are short... Danault, is getting in the neighborhood of 3mill and I don't see McCarron or Ryche taking a pay cut! Drouin is not a Center, Put him on the wing and keep him there! Trade Patches and a 2nd and a 3rd rounder for RNH!!! both the habs and oilers benefit with this trade. Center depth would be Taves, RNH, Danault, Froese. GIVE THE C TO WEBER!!!
