Good luck maintaining Karlsson when he gets 13 million a year

I'd think that it would start with Schmaltz and include both firsts and a prospect

I’ve been seeing some Hossa trades and I don’t understand them. Why pay a team to take him (regardless of how small the price is) when we can just have him on LTIR. If we can’t do that, then I could see a trade obviously. Also, I think we may be able to get more for Anisimov, but I could be wrong. And that’s probably a fair trade for Karlsson, but I don’t think that’s the direction the Hawks should go in.

Not sure the Rangers are cap floor team, even in a "rebuild". They still have Shattenkirk and Lundqvist. This is likely more of a rebuild on the fly, trade a few pieces to get some younger pieces/picks. They do have a bunch of RFA's that they can re-sign and be plenty over the cap floor.
Only a few teams did the take on a bad contract for assets. The results have been mixed on that strategy.
I've said it a few times before, but as great as he is right now Karlsson is age 27, and 28 next season. An 8 year contract will take him to age 36. How are the Duncan Keith & Seabrook contracts working out in their age 32 & 33 seasons? Awesome? Then I say let's go get him. If not, maybe let another team deal with paying 8-10 years at 8.5M+ cap hit for 4 years of elite play.

There is absolutely ZERO way I would do that Karlsson trade...

Adam Boqvist can be had and #3 or 4 and he's the NEXT Karlsson... Would you rather have Karlsson at 28 or Karlsson at 18 when he's cost controlled for the next 5 years?

So yea, no go on that deal.

The top of this draft his heavy on talent and any team that drafts in the top 7 will get a franchise player and whoever lands the first pick overall is getting a generational talent - the next Bobby Orr.
