Can't speak to the Florida trade, but the Calgary trade is very far off. Bennett's development is back on track since getting back to playing with NHL-quality linemates, so bottom-end support players makes no sense.

Flames fan here... I think the only sticking point with this deal is money. Bennett isn't tracking much better, and Schlemko is very underrated. From a hockey trade perspective the Flames get a lot better, but is it worth the cap cost?

Shaw has 10G - 9A in 43 games and can play RW and C. He could probably play on your second line since he has more goals (in fewer games) than 3 of your 4 RW (including Frolik), even though we're having a terrible season this year. Also, rumour is CGY is searching for a gritty RW so I personally think that he would be a great fit for you guys (Even though Bergevin said that he won't be trading him this year). Schlemko with retained salary is just to sweeten the deal!
