Beagle and Carlson could get more for longer term elsewhere.

Dell maybe if he gets no other offers (which he will).

Not sure this fixes the issue of lack of depth on the back end.

Beagle is a 4th line center I don't think he is getting any more money. Carlson is a top 2 defenseman on the capitals so he would be for the Hawks. Helps the Blackhawks depth a ton because Oesterle can play a top 4 instead of top 2. Dell is not going to get picked up by another team unless its the Coyotes. If any of these guys get paid more than I state they might have a huge problem if they decline. Carlson is the only one can get a little more but if he wants to stick with a winning team than he wouldn't mind taking a little pay cut.

I'm not sure Carlson sees the Hawks as a winning team right now or in a few years.

Dell will get picked up by another team. The Isles at the very least would take a shot at him and he'd have a chance to start.

Well, next summer (2019) Doughty, Karlsson and Hjalmarsson will all be UFA's if they don't get extensions, would it really be wise to go after Carlson this summer when you could land either one of them in 2019?

And who knows, the Hawks could end up with the first overall pick this summer and draft Dahlin.

There will be a lot of options for sure, and the Hawks have the cap space to address some issues .... I would really like to see a stronger defense next season because I think the defense has been pretty messy and arguably responsible for this seasons failure.
