Unless the Leafs get a deal that blows them away (a 4th rounder won't do it), I don't see them trading a goalie. The Marlies are extremely poised to win a Calder Cup and god forbid if something were to happen to Freddie, they would not only want the Leafs to stay competitive, but they would want the Marlies to have a legit starter still as well. So, unless they get something that they can't refuse whether straight up or in a package, I believe they would be content with keeping all goalies. Wouldn't make sense to move one when you see what one injury can have on the NHL or AHL rosters. Keep the great goalie depth.

I think the Capitals are cool with that. Not a lot of offense yet, and negative on plus/minus, but young, cheap, with corsi 10% better than his zone starts, and he speaks Russian? https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/soshnni01.html

The Caps could use a checking right wing to pair with Kuznetsov, who's also from Russia, and help his possession numbers recover from the loss of Justin Williams in free agency. Of course they accept.

Why the sudden deadline? And would you like a middling prospect with that pick?

They have a sudden deadline because Sosh has some kind of clause in his contract that he had to be on the Leafs NHL roster by a certain date this season. He was recently sent back down for a conditioning stint but that is now over, so they have to trade him, send someone else down and call him up, or trade someone else. He has some good upside just buried now in the leafs winger depth

4 nhl players for four 4ths. Sounds like something edmonton would do.

Wouldn't they trade RNH for a 3rd pair dman and sign him to a 5-6 million/year for 8 years?

I like the washington trade but i wiuld live to see if they would part with bowey i know the leafs would have to up their but he could be the answer to their need for a young RHD with shut down potential.

Rather trade Carlson, unless he signs an extension. Bowey will be RFA. He's a good two way player, but I think he's going to get Washington's power play job if Carlson leaves, so better to trade Carlson for a king's ransom at the deadline. Maybe Soshnikov, Zaitsev, and a 1st? Or, in keeping with this thread, should that be a 4th? wink

But, to be fair, only one of them is an all star.
