Description
Have to give to get and if NYR is retaining the piece better be good. They also like that they're moving him out west. Kyle Connor is an excellent young star in the making but McDonagh won't come cheap. Rangers likely ask for Ros but WPG counters with Connor. Combined with Petan and the 1st and 2nd NYR would have to listen on that as Connor is on pace for 30 goals as a rookie and has the clear skill and IQ to be a 1st line winger in the NHL.

Why the Jets do this:
1.5 years left on McDonagh give the Jets a top pairing LHD at a 3rd pairing price (with the money retained). They do have to give up some top level pieces but that's the cost of doing business for a player of McD's caliber.
McDonagh is also the perfect partner for Buff as he's very defensively reliable, and can be a physical force. He's got playoff experience and would make the Jets top 6 the most formidable in the West if not the league.

Kristian Vesalainen might also be available instead of Connor but they likely want the more proven prospect in Connor.

Roslovic, Vesalainen, Connor, Stanley, and Niku is an offer you put together for McD(avid), not McD(onagh). Ok, it's not getting McDavid, but that's probably WPG's top 5 prospects - way too much.

I thought the proposed offer looked pretty fair, especially considering that it's coming from a Jets fan and he's willing to part with 4 useful pieces, one of which has the potential to be a star. I don't know if NYR could find a better option if they decide to trade him.

Petan isnt useful hes an ahl fill in you can find them anywhere too good for the ahl not good enough for the nhl

I view Petan as more of a guy that can't crack the Jets very strong top 6 and can't be trusted with a bottom six role due to his size/style. He could be useful given the right situation (look at all the 'tweeners on VGK that finally got more opportunity) but I could be wrong. Either way, I think a deal for Kyle Connor and some nice picks would be good for NYR if they're planning on re-vamping the lineup and think that Skjei is ready for a bigger role.

Petan does need a new team, he'll never crack the Jets top 9 should they ever go that route. Connor is 17G-15A-32P in 47 games this year. Thats a solid rookie performance plus there's a 1st and 2nd round picks NEXT YEAR!
