Description

With the Isles plummeting, and John Tavares potential jumping ship, who's to say that Josh Bailey doesn't cash in on his all star season as well? He fits NJ's system, and can play any forward position, and only downside would be creating a bit of a logjam in the bottom six. The balancing of veterans Zajac/Boyle, the tenacious Gibbons/Coleman/Noesen, and giving the new youth of McLeod, Wood, and Quenneville the ice time they deserve. As long as defense doesn't become a larger issue than it is at the moment, I feel NJ passes on 2018's top defensemen (Carlson, De Haan) and waits for 2019's free agent corps, which are loaded with Dmen. (McDonagh, Karlsson, Doughty, OEL, Gardiner, Ellis, etc)

Bailey is a product of tavares not saying he isn't talented or couldnt post solid numbers w hall... The young guys are promising but I agree in waiting give them all another yr of log jammed metro play and regroup...everything this year already exceeded expectations

There's no guarantee that Bailey will produce like he has this year without Tavares.

I would rather get a proven producer who hasn't had only one good season, such as E Kane or JvR.

6x6 seems fair for Bailey. This season will probably remain as an anomaly in his career but he is a talented guy who has shown that if you give him great goalscorers to play with, you get great results. Not a PPG player on his own but I could see him being worth that money.

someone will overpay for bailey just don't think it should be the devils. maybe jersey boy Carlson might be a better signing
