I disagree on Moulson. I have had the chance to watch him play. He is producing in the minors, skating well, and I honestly think with the right chemistry could do extremely well. That wasn’t their for him in Buffalo. In 20 GP in Ontario he has 26 points. Those ppg numbers are better than most of the gulls. He brings some experience and could be great depth going down the stretch and into playoffs.
Obviously I wrote this trade and that’s why I agree with it but I wouldn’t turn my nose up at Moulson.
That's nice and all, but the AHL isn't the NHL. 26 pts in 20 games in the AHL isn't really a big number for a guy who used to rack up 40-50 at the NHL level on an annual basis. It's unfortunate, but Moulson has aged and lost a step in the process and for a guy that has relied on his ability to hound puck carriers and catch teams on the break, that's had a massive impact on his game. He basically cannot keep up with the NHL game and that's why you see him putting up 0 pts in 14 games with BUF. Meanwhile, his skating hasn't deteriorated enough to make him completely irrelevant in the much slower AHL. Hence, the 26 pts in 20 games.
Btw, no one on the San Diego Gulls has been an NHL regular, let alone a former 40-50 pt NHL winger, so it's no surprise Moulson is out pacing most of them.
Yeah, I stand by my "no interest in Moulson" and, if we're giving up that package, I'd want more quality than Kane brings i.e. Hoffman or Patches.
