Possible Tyson Barrie trades

Description
Just a selection of targets for a Tyson Barrie trade.

Barrie is an attacking D who the Avs have proven they can play well without, and is replaceable by the future production of the likes of Girard, Timmins & Makar.

I'm not saying straight up or even that the teams are likely to look at Barrie as a piece they need but more the kind of guys who could be useful to the Avs.

Other ideas and comments on what you'd add to the trades on either side appreciated or if you think 'no way', or have another option in mind.

1.
COL
  1. Anderson, Josh
Détails additionnels:
Anderson seems a legitimate target. Can score, has good hands, goes to the dirty areas and is willing to stick up for team mates. There's also the question of whether or not he is happy in Columbus with the contract dispute earlier this season.
2.
COL
  1. Athanasiou, Andreas
Détails additionnels:
MacKinnon and Athanasiou terrorising the oposition with their speed would be fun to watch. Athanasiou is another who could be unhappy with where he is right now. Trading with the Wings is kind of like dealing with the devil but a trade with Minnesota would be even worse lol.
DET
  1. Barrie, Tyson
3.
COL
  1. Drouin, Jonathan
Détails additionnels:
An obvious reason for the Avs to go after Drouin though it would Probably mean breaking up the Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen line that is playing so well together.
MTL
  1. Barrie, Tyson
4.
COL
  1. Galchenyuk, Alex
Détails additionnels:
Another fairly obvious target. The opportunity to re-unite him with Yakupov and see if they still have the OHL chemistry should be tempting for the Avs.
MTL
  1. Barrie, Tyson
5.
COL
  1. Reinhart, Sam
Détails additionnels:
A suggestion by Ragsandbluesfan on another post (not straight up) and Reinhart fits the profile for the Avs.
BUF
  1. Barrie, Tyson
6.
COL
  1. Nugent-Hopkins, Ryan
Détails additionnels:
The Avs end up with two first overalls at centre suggested by Dylan1995 as a straight up swap. The idea of Nugent-Hopkins behind MacKinnon is tempting, leaving Jost maybe to move to the wing or making one of Jost, Compher and Kerfoot available to make further moves.
EDM
  1. Barrie, Tyson
7.
COL
  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse
Détails additionnels:
A Finnish friend for Rantanen and a little more of a developmental project.
EDM
  1. Barrie, Tyson
8.
COL
  1. Strome, Ryan
Détails additionnels:
Production has dropped off with Edmonton but still comparatively young at 24.
EDM
  1. Barrie, Tyson
9.
COL
  1. Buchnevich, Pavel
Détails additionnels:
Having just watched the Rangers face the Avs, Buchnevich was one of the few Rangers players who stood out for me. Admittedly one game isn't much of a sample but he looked like the kind of guy the Avs should be looking for.
NYR
  1. Barrie, Tyson
10.
COL
  1. Crouse, Lawson
Détails additionnels:
Another young guy who stands up for his team mates and could turn into a modern power forward. The emphasis is on 'could', and the 'Yotes would certainly have to add to the trade to make the gamble worth it for the Avs.

Anderson wouldnt have signed a 3 year deal if he wasnt happy in Columbus and hes said hes wanted to be here from the start lol, its not a bad trade but Anderson wont be traded. We dont need defense, we need scoring and thats what Anderson does with him being on the top line with Dubois and Panarin

I'd do the Sabres deal, just not sure it will help them. Might hurt them, Sabres need to worry about forward depth first. They got 16 goals out of the 9 forwards to play in their bottom 6 so far

As I said it was questionable whether he was happy or not. Barrie certainly provides additional scoring from the back end and with Columbus likely to lose JJ there could easily be some shuffling on the back end, but admittedly the need is more biased for the Avs in this trade. There is of course the option to add to the trade from either side to balance it out. Thanks for the comment though, appreciated.

Yep, it was a suggestion from someone else and would fit perfectly for the Avs profile but agreed it could hurt the Sabres, though it would potentially add more scoring from the back end. Maybe the Avs throw in something to help there to make it happen? Thanks for the comment.

Agreed, the Oilers would have to add to that one to make it work, and that's a pretty fair offer. Still liking your offer of Nuge for Barrie straight up though on the other post. Thanks for the comment.

Lawson Crouse isn't a "top prospect" anymore.

I would also say that you are leaving the impression that the return for Barrie is interchangeable in a vacuum. Meaning, I could trade Lawson Crouse for Johnathan Drouin.

I had intended the description to clear that up by saying they were possible targets and would need to be added to on either side, and they were targets that might fit what the Avs were looking for. As Dylan1995 suggested with Strome, the value of Barrie is higher so the Avs could get a guy who might fit their needs and then some for Barrie. Hopefully that clears it up for you and for future comments.

Agreed that Crouse is probably not a top prospect any longer and the 'Yotes would certainly need to add. Some guys just take longer though and given ice time to work things out on a young attacking team, who knows?

Thanks for the comment though!

The trade itself value wise makes sense dont get me wrong but we have Jones and Werenski for offense on the back end and Nutivaara and Carlsson are emerging as Top 4 dmen, Barrie just doesnt make sense for CBJ with guys like Gavrikov, Carlsson, Peeke and Nuti all in the system or NHL, if I were the avs id try to get a return of defense prospects to keep building the future. The deal itself is fair it just doesnt make much sense for cbj dealing Andy who is on an amazing contract

let’s say the Sabres move Kane for Pit 1st round and it ends up being 18th OA. Would COL do 18 and Alex Nylander for Barrie and a 2nd?

Yep, I get that it makes little sense to the Blue Jackets if their prospects are all moving into the picture nicely, you would know better than I on that one. Cheers! cheers

Certainly fits the profile for the Avs, and it's likely it's going to be a top prospect forward between 18 & 23 (maybe up to 25) plus something with the Avs adding something for balance. I liked Ragsandbluesfan's idea of Reinhart plus a second for Barrie and a third a little better, purely because Reinhart is more proven and Nylander has had the early injuries stemming his progress. That said, a first pick, even at 18 overall, plus a prospect taken 8th overall is not to be sniffed at. I'd expect it to be a highly considered offer if it were made.

Thanks for the comment.
