Description
This deal has WAAAAY too many moving parts, and I can't decide who's really the winner here.

OTT who clearly has ownership issues and is a mess gets a whole whack of young talent that can basically jump start them through a rebuild process as well as 3 1st rounders in a very deep draft.
TB gets a 23 year old top pairing RHD in his prime for close to a decade but has to give up a lot of futures for it. Though they're not touching the active roster and instantly stamp their team as the favorite from the E
WPG gives up even MORE futures than TB but they also get 2.5 years of Hoffman and 1.5 years of Karlsson to become the legit favorites in the West.

I'd honestly have to peg this deal as making TB and WPG the conference finals as both teams are just right stacked.

Now let the roasting begin because NO BODY makes these kinds of deals in real life but I'd like to know who you think wins this deal and why?

Very interesting idea. I think Tampa would have to send back some salary, so someone like Callahan might have to be involved and end up with Ottawa in the end, but overall pretty solid.

This is scary. Winnipeg is going to get absolutely analed by someone called the cap reaper in the next year and so. They have Laine, Hellebuyck, Lowry, Morrissey, Trouba, Little, Wheeler all due soon... and You know that those players will not come cheap.. Laine alone will cost them upwards of 6 mill. And you want to add to that stress by trying to get Hoffman, how makes 5.6 and will want more, and Karlsson who will demand 12 mill. The jets cant afford this trade. Now, if youre saying this trade will get them the cup for one year, then who cares if he signs or not.. okay, maybe. But still, Cap hell is no joke, and its scary to think what the jets will have to deal with.

creative thinking but I cant see Hoffman and karlson going to the same team in a deal, plus karlsons signing an immediate extension would have to be part of any deal for him I think.

Thing is, you can start moving pieces out and decide who's your core to recoup assets next year if you have to. So maybe Hoffman comes to WPG this year, but is moved out next year for CAP hell reasons as you said! Or Myers is moved out and Poolman given 3rd pairing. Mason can be moved now that Hellebuyck is solidified his role. Karlsson never going to be re-signed anyways!

So This trade is basically for one year of a cup run? Thats a tough and very risky pill to take, but I do like your guts

Like you said, I don't seen this happening, because of cap issues but DAMN!!! That's damn good value. Take Callahan from TBL and then move him to Ottawa instead of say a Logan Stanley and that'd be great value for all 3 involved. Well done!!

Ouch! As a Lightning fan, that is a lot to give up for Trouba. Especially since with a 6.5 million cap hit the bolts can no longer keep either Kucherov or Point.

it's actually a 2 year window of opportunity at the CUP with Karlsson, and 3 with Hoffman. Karlsson has this year and next on his contract, and Hoffman has this year plus 2 more. Also imagine if you could re-sign Karlsson and extend that window.

I'm sure they'd figure it out! Yzerman has been a master of making great deals and good signings. Also, 6.5M for a top pairing RHD whos only 23 for 8 more years is a steal if you think about it especially since he's locked up through his prime. You could either run Hedman-Trouba 30 min a night together, or separate them and have two pairs at 25 min and a sheltered 3rd pairing. I honestly think this makes TAMPA more scary then the Jets with Karlsson
