<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>-Once again, Jake Muzzin isn't waiving his NTC to go play for a rebuilding team, not when he's playing for a Cup contender 90 minutes from his hometown.
-Korpisalo is an interesting player to target as a bounce-back candidate but this trade is actively bad for Columbus. If you're swapping two mediocre/bad goalies but one is older and has a much larger cap hit ($3.8M vs. $1.3M), you need to offer more of an incentive than the RFA rights to a guy with Kase's injury history.
-Minnesota passes. Their D corps is pretty much set for next season (Brodin, Spurgeon, Dumba, Goligoski, Merrill, Kulikov, Addison all signed for next year and Middleton as an RFA) so adding Liljegren isn't necessary; especially not if it takes away Hartman, a guy who just scored 34 goals this season and is signed for 2 more years $1.7M. Minnesota needs him to be part of their core going forward the next couple years as they deal with the Parise/Suter buyouts.
-I just don't see why Arizona makes this trade. Nylander doesn't take them from the basement to the playoffs, so why are they giving up their best trade chip *plus* a 1st and a 2nd? I could maybe see this deal if you needed to trade Auston Matthews and wanted to send him home, because he's the kind of guy who can carry a franchise. Not Willie Nylander, though.</div></div>
If I'm Arizona I'm drooling at the chance to acquire Nylander, so that when Auston Mathews is UFA in 2 years Not only can you offer him a crazy like 14 mil contract to come home and save the Arizona franchise but also one of his best friends and teammates is already there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>I am a much bigger fan of Murray than botterill. Murray had a plan, I have no idea what botterill is trying to do. Having said that, Murray didn't have an answer for the defense. It was time to move on, they just picked the wrong guy to move on to. There's two major problems right now, the middle 6 centers and right wings. Unfortunately the pieces that we can move to fill those spots hold not enough value in the eyes of 30 other gms. Moving higher value pieces just guts the roster. I believe we would be 100% better off if Murray wasn't fired, look how many assets of value were moved out for nothing- the ror trade wasn't pennies on the dollar, it was two buttons and a tic tac for a dollar. So even if you hate Murray's build, at least there would be real value assets to move right now.</div></div>
murray was an idiot don't praise him he depleted our prospect pool and tried to rush the rebuild. The O'Reilly trade has not worked out but Tage can still pan out he just needs time and Montour is very talented its not as if we got nothing out of it. Ryan was infecting the locker room he needed to go,

New lines question mark
I don't see Kahun playing C when he has almost exclusively played wing in the NHL. Also Botts referred to him as a winger in his post deadline conference. I could see Simmonds playing with skinner though, if he can be heavy and force turnovers that skins could capitalize on and be a good net front presence it could work. There O zone possession should be good but their transition might be lacking.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BlastnyFromThePastny</b></div><div>You are trading 2 1st rounders for your 2C? That alone is far too much for any 2C let alone Cirelli. At the beginning of this year TB fans were complaining about him so I wouldn't be overly committed to him. Especially giving up a top 4 Dman, two firsts and a touted prospect. Thompson probably isn't much anyways so TB is likely not even interested in him.</div></div>
He is highly talented and is only going to get better. I obviously overpayed as an emphasis as to how badly we need a another great center

I think you should reconsider your strategy -- you have 5 first-class wingers for 4 positions. Meanwhile, you have only one first-class center. That's really <a href="/users/wojme" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@wojme</a> 's point.</div></div>
Im expecting Dylan Cozins to be our 2nd line center in 1-2 years

Cant have 3 players over 10mil
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>ok but 99.9% of top players weren't making over ten mil until around the time mcdavid signed his contract. I hate when people say that because it's just not a fair comment. The teams that haven't paid their players like that and won signed them in a different time period where players weren't making this much, or they signed them before they got really really good (for example pasta). This is what the league is trending towards, and over the next few years you'll continue to see the players who produce at such a high level will be paid like this. The cap will increase and give the leafs more flexibility, but quite honestly, the cap isn't the problem with this team. they have solid depth players all around, and could find ways easily to add a defenceman or two and stay under while still having a deep roster. It's heart that this team lacks. You can't blame a fanbase who cares about their team for trying to stay confident in their team's success, when there's so much potential, even when on some nights it doesn't look like the team itself takes this to heart</div></div>
Sure, there will end up being a team with a 10mil player to win eventually, but having 30+ mil tied up in 3 players is not ideal,i nstead of signing tavares they could have spent that money on a top tier defensmen and better depth and right fit role players

Cant have 3 players over 10mil
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>why is this always the narrative for only the leafs? are all fans not rooting for their team to win? If your team is trying to win and you're not supporting them then why even bother watching? All fans do this with their team, they all think and hope that their team will win soon, but somehow the "plan the parade" comments always come to the leafs. I understand that some fans can be premature about this, but it happens with every fanbase- and if it doesn't with yours maybe your fans don't care enough. Also, you see it more from leafs fans on here because I can guarantee you that there are more leafs fans on here than any other fanbase.</div></div>
its because they have so much talent and 3 players over 10 mil, did you know that no team has ever won the cup with a player making over 10 mill? let alone 3.
