that's.. just not a good offer. Hayes is perfect on a scoring 3rd line imo, so a guy you round your roster out with, not a core player. I'd say RNH excels in a similar role and I have a hunch Hayes next contract will overpay him for the role he's contributing. Nash is worth more to NYR than he is to other teams. he's not a prime scorer anymore and much rather a secondary scorer and two way winger. again, not useful as central piece in a trade. Gilmour holds little to no value as a pure AHL asset. Smith and Holden are no substantial upgrades over what EDM already has and the secondrounders are no centerpieces either. that's just not good enough to get a prime player. I don't think the Rangers have the pieces to acquire Draisaitl at all to be honest.

This trade is unfair, but you’re right, he traded Tyler Seguin for nothing, Boychuk for nothing, Eberle for nothing, and acquired Reinhart for basically Mat Barzal, so that could happen

don't forget he traded taylor hall for larsson too-- not an even value for an elite wing without getting a truly elite player back. larsson is good, but not elite

I agree with parts of this. Hayes offers something similar to RNH at a cheaper price i agree there (see him getting 4-5 mill ), nash hasn't had a truly elite player around him in a while. He's underperformed as of late but put him with talent and he can make plays. He's been VERY snakebitten this year as he's hit the post almost every game he's played this year. I think putting him with McJesus can open up a part of his game that hasn't been around for a while. Gilmour is better than most people would think, he's more of an offensive specialist that could be good on a teams third pair. He was chosen as an AHL allstar so he does have some value, albeit not much. holden and smith are also depth defenseman that could help edmonton when their weakest link is defense (and both are better than fayne whose contract NY would be absorbing) I don't think these pieces get Draisaitl, but then again.. chiarelli
