Description

The Hawks could use some center depth next year and they can work out the cap issues with the increase next year and shedding Hossa's contract. AZ's a natural fit, Carolina could be as well. Only $1.5M would actually be owed to Hossa and they can use the $5+M cap hit to their benefit. Maybe it takes a little more, but it won't be close to a 1st rounder or anything like that. Just look at Datsyuk, Pronger, and Bolland.

Hawks also desperately need a PP defenseman. Carlson 100% can fill this role. The ripple effect is that Keith's minutes can more focus on 5v5 play where he excels.

Just because someone else will say it, Hawks could only give Carlson 7 years. However, actually am a fan of these moves. They could all benefit moving forward. I would even argue that the Hawks could entertain offers on Anisimov if Schmaltz continues to develop.
