You've gone from Nieves being a bottom six forward, to "cost controlled middle six potential that fills a depth role", which is a fancy way of saying that he's a 4th liner. You don't trade a 20 year old guy with elite potential for a guy who might play in your middle six, a 7th dman and what will likely be a pick at the bottom end of the second round. 29 other GM's see that trade and laugh.
Again, he's 20. He has pretty great potential. He's putting up numbers in the AHL. Why not let him get seasoned then call him up full time when he's ready?
