I don't think that's enough for Karlsson. Hes a top 5 player in the league. Replace Perreault with Kyle Connor or Ehlers and you might have something.

top 5 player on an expiring contract without the ability to discuss an extension...that's more then you'll get guarenteed consider what they would then turn and flip Trouba for.

You have to understand, a team like Ottawa doesn't trade Karlsson unless they want either rebuild or equal talent back. You can't look at each player as a "1" and then go 1+1+1+1+1 = Karlsson.

First off the reason they are probably not going to keep him is his salary. So trading him means they want cheap young star power coming back.

If Ottawa trades Karlsson, they will not ask for Perreault. They will not ask for Myers. Not Dano and not Foley. They might take a guy that you really don't want with salary simply to offset the cap coming to them but that player is being taken back as a "favor" more then anything and is not part of the actual package Ottawa wants to receive. Acknowledging that its hard for any team to take on EK's 6.5M without giving something biggish back also.
