For mentioning the phoney extension. Karlsson can probably get that deal any place. He can wait and go to a team he really wants and Coyotes can keep their assets.

The point about the Coyotes keeping their assets is moot - they'd give up those assets in a minute to get Karlsson with term. I don't disagree that from the player's perspective, there is almost little incentive to not test free agency. However, if the reports of him wanting out of a hectic market are true, AZ could make sense long-term.

Such an interesting situation. Many variables in play, with potentially adding in Ryan (which seems to have died down) and an extension possibly in-play. I have no idea what to actually expect.
