Description
Dubas is on the record saying Willy is a leaf as long as he's around, so if this happens maybe Dubie isnt around for very long?? But if Willy continues to ride this out I could see some positives to trading him. Namely, a) it balances the roster, b) creates greater cap flexibility moving forward, and c) sends a message to future rfa's that no one is irreplaceable if you're not on board with the plan.

The leafs likely need to throw in a pick or prospect to make this work. But given the recent moves in the Pacific I could see the Ducks being motivated to make a move, even if this isnt it. Cause it seems they're going to need to retool moving forward in order to get younger and manage their cap.

Regardless, I still think Willy gets signed and stays. But it is intriguing to think about what he could fetch..

Grundstrum starts with the Marlies and replaces Ennis mid season. I want to cheer for Ennis but I think his time might be up.

I went over a similar trade for montour, the ducks do not have the space for nylander next year.

I just had a look at your trade. I like that one too. I'm must be missing something though? I dont see how they couldn't keep Nylander if they bit on him. They a have few ufas next year, but would have enough room, especially with Manson and Siflverberg off the books. Am I missing something?

Silfverberg is already off the books next season so that doesn’t really help them.

The easiest way to check on a teams season is to go to the long term outlook and scroll down. You will see that as it stands the ducks will have under 12m (if the cap rises to 82m) and only have 14 roster players under contract. So if you subtract 4m for Manson and then add 10m for your proposed trade... that leaves 6m to sign 7 players. It’s not impossible but I don’t think any gym would want to push themselves into a corner like that.

A nice trade in theory that founders on the reef of reality. The one thing that Anaheim DOESN'T need is another RW, especially a big-ticket one. Not only is the next year a problem, but think about the coming expansion draft.

You're right even though your math is a little off. The mighty Ducks have $10.5M in contracts next year; a cap ceiling bump to $82M adds $2.5M for $13M in head room. Add $4M for Manson going out and $10M for the trade being made means $7M for 7 players, BUT YOU FORGOT ABOUT NICK RITCHIE. So it's actually WORSE than you think,
