I think the Penguins could make Bobby Ryan work. He was his best playing with Getzlaf and the Penguins have two options at center even better than Getzlaf. I put together a similar trade to this yesterday, but I had Guentzal instead of Sheary with Ottawa retaining 3 mil of Ryan's 7.25. At the end of the day that's a lot relying on Ryan's ability to turn around his career.

Yeahh it is but i would rather hold onto that 3 million and keep guentzel over sheary. For me the key is that ottowa completely rids themselves of that contract. I believe that's what they truly want. They have the leagues cheapest owner.

Yeah but I don't think the Penguins should/can trade Kessel. He isn't going to fix Montreal, which means Montreal isn't going to trade away their 1st round pick in the midst of a rebuild.

There is literally no possible deal where the Pens take Ryan at full price. Nearly no possible deal where the Pens take Ryan at 50% retained.

What are your reasons for moving Kessel? Age, Ryan is older. Cap hit, Ryan is more. Contract length, Ryan is the same. Not getting along with the coaches, Ryan... I think you see the trend here...
