Interesting article the other day on PPP that makes the case to sign Derek Ryan out of Carolina https://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/2018/6/2/17420554/4-pending-free-agents-the-leafs-can-realistically-pursue Might be an option to then put Willy in at 3C, and have him move up with Mathews on the first line when scoring is needed, bump Ryan to 3 C and either shorten the bench or slide Aaltonen over to 4C. Anyways, it gives lots of flexibility to see what works best over a full season.

Kept the Myers trade because that seems possible.. but another option is Brown/prospect/2nd for Tanev maybe. Either way, I like the idea of keeping Gardiner now if he doesn't need to be moved for a RD. It also leaves room to resign Gardiner, and depending on how Dermott and Lilly progress it could bump Gards and Zaitsev to 3 rd pairing in time..

Did up the Philly trade just beacuse there was so much cap space in 2018/19. Leafs could just bury Lehtera in the minors.. but, this is just being creative - there are other ways to find a home for Martin and Leivo.

Also did up a 19/20 roster with these players out of curiousity to see how it would impact the cap with RFA signings.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the idea of giving up anything to acquire Myers. I really don't think he's needed, cause the Leafs should be developing Dermot, and Borgman (and with the trade Brooks and the 1st rounder ) instead of a one year rental.
Like the move of Hyman to wing and Nylander to centre plus Sparks in net. Aaltonen seems to be a centre, I would like to see him there since the Leafs have enough wingers.

There isn't THAT much cap space if you want to Pay Performance Bonuses in 2018/19 and then Horton has to be on the opening day roster.

i also like the idea of keeping gardiner, but gardiner for myers just makes more sense.
