Hard no to the columbus trade. We are probably trading pick 32 this year for pick 22 next year, then taking 30 million dollars worth of dubinsky and a goalie for reinhart and a goalie. I think we get shafted pretty hard here, but even if you value reinhart and dubinsky the same, id rather just trade lehner for a 2 or 3 and pick up a ufa vet goalie to backup ullmark.

I dont consider Reinhart and Dubinsky the same. Korpisalo is going to be a #1 but with Bob in net, he would never be a true #1. in an overview, its Reinhart for Korpisalo. Adding Lehner gives CBJ an expereinced good goalie to flank bob. Getting Dubinsky adds depth, leadership, and great PK guy. While contract is hard to swallow its going to benefit growth of young guys with his leadership and on/off ice intangibles (which is why he gets paid that much) Moving up in picks, while in different years, still seems beneficial and gives BUF room to make a deal with the CBJ 1st

Fair response. Thats actually worse for me. I dont value goalies high at all, i would have no interest in trading a talented skater for a goalie. I think thats the trend in hockey, getting cost effective play and hoping that spending assets on skaters pays off bigger, then hoping your .915 turns into .930 in the playoffs. Ive been a sabres fan since 80, we have had edwards, sauve, puppa, barrasso, malarchuk, fuhr, hasek, and miller. Weve been spoiled with at least above average goaltending for the majority of the last 40 years. No cups. It doesnt make me wanna spend big money or assets there. And i believe many gms feel the same. Maybe fleury is a bad example for this, but he was a highly regarded young goalie that had some cringe worthy playoffs. Vegas got paid a second rounder by pitt, just to take him off of their hands. Whats he at this playoffs, .960?

It's terrible, and it's never gonna happen. You don't even seem to follow the latest news from Buffalo.

I see what you're saying. If BUF had a definite number 1 goalie I wouldn't have made a move like this. Because of the depth at forward and with Nylander to take Reinhart's spot, I felt it was doable. I know Lehner has been the guy but I felt a change could be beneficial for BUF and him. Yeah Fleury is definitely an outlier when it comes to that mindset. Since CBJ has Bob already, there's no sense in keeping Korposalo or letting him go to FA even if he'll be restricted. I think it works for both sides.
