Well since I am not very good at this (based on the replies or lack of replies I normally receive) I figured I would go a different route.

My theory is the Sabres will be 2-3 years away from fielding a competitive lineup. Therefore 2018/2019 is a year to move out the players who have been on this team too long or have aged out. I try to replace those players with young players and add a veteran or two with the right type of attitude.

Ryan Reaves is my key veteran addition. I think his style of play (tough to play against and finishes his checks) is perfect for the young Sabres.

The players I move out are ROR, Larsson, Girgensons & Pominville.

The deals I make:

1. Montreal I move Pominville retaining salary for 1 year (2018/2019) and take back Schlemko plus acquire a 2nd Round pick in 2019;

2. The Calgary deal is centered around obtaining Hamilton and Bennett. I realize this could be a very heavy lift. I use as the key pieces going to Calgary ROR, McCabe, Rights to Lehner & a 2nd Round pick in 2019. I hope that is enough with a couple of additional players included;

I sign the following players to 2 way contracts and they would start the year in Rochester or Cincinnati.... Smith, Griffith, Malone, O'Regan, Baptiste, Wilcox & Kasdorf.

I figure that Bogosian will end up on LTIR soon after the season starts. Beaulieu has very little value until the trade deadline if you can get him playing time.
