Description

Fixing MTL's two major needs:
First off, getting a #1C.
NY will miss the playoff and Tavares may walk. If so, the Habs are one of the few teams with enough cap space to sign him. Habs send their 2018 2nd round pick (which should be high) and Valiev to get his negotiation rights. They also fix their second major need in this trade:
Getting an offensive #2 D.
I believe Leddy will fit well with Weber on the first pair. NY can then flip Pacioretty to FLO or STL or any other club that needs a scoring winger.
It leaves MTL with a pretty well balanced lineup.
4th liners can move up the line up and Mtl's 3rd center, alothough a rookie, will be helped by two great faceoff guys on his wings.

Indeed you are right, I'll add the extra year. But a 2nd + Valiev to have the greatest chance at signing the # 1 center we've been waiting for decades doesn't seem too much to give!!
