Trading Marner so you can pay Bertuzzi and Domi the same as Marner makes is not a good idea. You can find production from other guys for a lot less than 6 million for Bertuzzi or 4.5 for Domi. Knies easily replaces Bert and I wouldn't be surprised if Cowan can replace Domi. No point in trading Marner for futures only so we can over pay two depth forwards.

Toronto will be keeping Marner until after FA Frenzy at the absolute minimum. Nobody will be giving up those sort of assets until the dust settles. Therefore, the 2024 picks are out of the question and Evangelista will also remain a Predator.

Cowan is a few years away from being rea set to play in the nhl. We are in win now mode. Bertuzzi could’ve had 15-20 more points last season with all the missed opportunities and if he does get those points we’re not talking about 6 mill too much to give him. Him and Domi bring a style to the team that they need.
