Description

Trades may not be realistic, but just food for thought. Would like to improve left side with someone more offensive, good at skating and moving the puck. Health is a bit of a concern with Theodore lately, so reinforcing left side with someone younger who is better than Englund (not a very high bar). Gavrikov has 1 year left and I dont think we'll be re-signing him, should try and move him (picked a place where he might waive his NMC for).

Portillo looks be very good but should get another full year in the AHL. Rittich will be the backup, so we're gonna need another stopgap type goalie to fill in for a few years. A few options to choose from, I'm thinking Nedeljkovic, Brossoit, etc. Maybe Talbot again? Not my preference. Dont think we have assets or cap space to really swing for the stars in net.

Other moves are just to allow more of the younger guys on the fringe/Ontario Reign to start getting meaningful gametime. Would like to see what Thomas/Turcotte can do. They will likely get shuffled around the lineup where the new coach best sees fit. Bring back RV on a 1-yr "prove you can stay healthy" deal or find another middle 6 replacement.

He's pretty settled, so I could see him taking a discount. If he had played more this season, he definitely would've gotten the bag. But availability is a concern. I think he's still young enough that he can take a 1-yr deal to bring his GP and P numbers up, and then secure one final sizeable contract before he retires.

Fair, I was just trying to find a team that I think Gavrikov would waive his NMC for, and also needs a solid middle pairing guy to help bolster the team for a playoff run.
