Description
My Ideal scenario what the roster could look like going into the 2016-17 season.

This site lists Boedker as RFA but majority of other sites have him as a UFA so I am treating him as a UFA signing.

Would like to bring back Jamie McGinn to fill that Top 9 swiss army knife role again, if not him, similar UFA forward or potentially in the return of Iggy

D could still be upgraded, but depending on final cap number, wouldnt want the team to over commit on UFA D help when they have good young kids in the system. As well as Stuarts health is still in question, his back issues have yet to officially forced him to retire or shut it down long term, but going under the assumption he won't be able to play for the team next year

Overpaid Grigorenko. Underpaid Gormley and Barrie. Also you can't just LTIR someone who isn't hurt? Stuart's money is sticking around for better or worse

Did you not read the description about Staurt...clearly you didn't since there is a chance he might have to hang it up if he back issues keep on happening. He has been hurt for most of the season, hes skating again but who knows, its been 2 years of the same issue and he has even hinted at it himself that he might have to call it quits. If hes healthy he gets bought out next season instead, there will be cap relief from him no matter what

I think the contracts to Grigo, Gormley, and Barrie are pretty fair. Barrie might get a little more, could be around 6m instead. Its all close to market values for those guys.

Sorry I missed the description. Not totally used to this site format yet. Roy said at this point he's almost ready to come off IR, I havent personally seen Stuart suggest himself that he may have to retire, if you have a link I'd be interested in seeing that. As for a buyout, if I remember the rules correctly the Avalanche will not receive any cap relief for him because he has a 35+ contract. All a buyout does is get him off the team and free up one of the team's 50 contract slots a year early.

As for Grigo, Gormley, and Barrie. I don't think you're far off. Barrie is the wildcard and like you said could end up closer to $6m. The longer the team goes without signing him the more I think that's the case (I think if he would sign for 5.5 it'd be done by now). As for Grigo and Gormley I almost think you could just flip them. I'd be surprised to see Grigorenko crack the $1M ceiling on his next deal, I think that's his max from the team. And I think Gormley will get a 3-4 year deal in the 1.2-1.4 range.

Also now that I read your comment... Yes Boedker should be a UFA as far as I can tell. He's only 26 years old so he doesnt hit the 27 year old mark for UFA's but he HAS played 7 NHL seasons already so that eats up the last of his RFA years

The stuart stuff came from a BSN Denver articles, could try and find the link. Ive seen some mixed analysis on Stuarts contract since he agreed to the extension before he was 35, some sites have him as a +35 contract, others don't.
I think they figure out some way to deal with Stuarts contract, 1 way or another I don't see his full or partial cap on the team next year. More to why I left cap space as a caveat if they can't do anything with him.

Grigo is on pace for a 30+ point season in a bottom 6 role, so I figured a contract similar to Mitchells would be fair in that regards. Gormley could get a contract similar to that, just depends on where the team values him long term. Hes been steady as bottom pairing guy
