Trades have to work for both teams not just yours. Calgary wants 1st round picks and good roster players or A prospects who can fill needs soon, not just w/e you want to get rid of. If Lindholm is traded then the two biggest needs will be:
1. a 1st line center or someone with good potential to eventually become at least a decent 2nd line center.
2. Right shot forwards with the potential to become good top 6 players.
IOW, the ideal return would include a 2024 1st and a pretty good right shot center or center prospect. Plus more how much more depending on just how high the pick is and how good the player/prospect is.
1st round picks (the earlier the better and the Rangers is going to be a late one) allow the Flames to pick players they think could fill those spots in a few years.
If Lindholm extends to remain in Calgary then the single biggest need will be a top 6 goal scoring forward preferably another right shot. Ideally a true sniper capable of being a gamebreaker even if he isn't one yet.
