Description
Small changes for now. Have players like Myers, Joshua, Beavillier to trade at the deadline for picks. This stratagems D a bit as best they can in season.

Peeke to me is such a just a guy who's not even on a very good contract. I just can't see it being worth it to retain on Garland and making this trade. Colombus fans is Peeke really any good? Like why should we want him other than he's better than the AHL quality RD we have been rolling out?

It really depends on who you ask; I can't stand watching him, because he's often out of place, overly-physical, and makes obvious mistakes. But he is a young, big, right-shot, minute-munching, durable, shot-blocking D-man. You'd never want him on your top pair, but you won't find many more consistent defenders...he's just consistently head-scratching.

It could also be the system, but the floor appears to be a solid 6th/7th RD, and the ceiling is a physical 2nd-pair guy. Garland is the better player, but Peeke has the better contract (marginally).

It seems like Vancouver wants cap space, Garland gone, and a defenseman from the trade...but that's basically like asking for something fast, cheap, and high-quality, where you can't have all 3. To move the contract and get a useful piece back, it's going to cost something decent, and for CBJ the thing that makes the most sense is cap space. I think something like this is the best fit for both teams.

Thanks for the detailed and thoughtful answer.

Thank you.
It’s more of a switch of a forward to a D. Yea, it’s a gamble but with our coaching he might turn into their 3rd RHD when Myers leaves.

This year I would be okay with the following RD
Hronek - Myers - Bear - Peeke

Best we can do for now. Peeke and Bear replace Friedman and Juulsen

Hoglander can replace Garland
