Seattle's last piece of outstanding business is now complete. According to Elliotte Friedman, Vince Dunn has signed a new contract for 4 years at a $7.35M AAV. That's a good contract for both sides from my point of view. Seattle gets a top-pairing defenseman for at least four more prime seasons at a reasonable cap hit that will only become more of a bargain as the cap goes up, and Dunn cashes in on his breakout season while still getting the chance to revisit the open market down the road if he so chooses.
With that, the Kraken's offseason is likely complete, in the sense they don't have to do anything else in order to field a complete roster. However, I expect the team to discuss a long-term extension with Beniers and hopefully get something done before next season kicks off. Seattle still has a little under $2M in cap space, so there is plenty of flexibility to improve the roster further. Personally I think any major moves they make will likely take place in season, but they have the option to explore making further additions over the course of the rest of this offseason.
I'm super excited to have Vince Dunn re-signed and officially a part of the Kraken for at least the next four years! Go Kraken!
