Tom Fitzgerald took care of business on Day 1 of FA. The Miller trade makes a ton of sense as security and insulation to avoid playing 2 rookie defenseman and Bahl with little experience as well. Kallgren addresses the need for a 3rd string goalie and getting McLeod and Bas on cheap contracts was just tidy business. This team doesn’t really need much of anything else and I expect them to be very quite the rest of the summer minus giving Bahl a contract. They even took care of the center deficiency in Utica. I know there isn’t anything flashy here but considering the deals given out today I think this was a very successful FA frenzy for the devils.

Obviously Kevin Bahl’s contract is now at the top of the list of things to do and after that it’s going to be a lot of minor stuff.

I expect a couple more Utica signings, specifically a couple of RD as well as a couple of Vet wingers. With so many players moving on, Utica will have a lot of roster turnover but none of that will affect the big club.

The only other thing the team may look at is to figure out what to do with Tyce Thompson who is no longer waiver exempt. I doubt there is a market for him so I think they’ll just hope he makes it through waivers as the team sheds players during the preseason.

I’d also expect a couple of PTO veteran signings close to preseason as well.
As for us Devils fans, we just gotta set back and relax and wait for camp to start because I don’t think Jersey will be making any more significant changes.

Oh I of course forgot Lindy Ruff still needs his new contract so that is another thing to look out for.
