This roster assumes the Devils will make no additional signings (other than their own RFAs) or trades prior to training camp.

* Bahl is probably not going to get a contract with an AAV of this magnitude, but assuming we make no additional roster changes I suspect we're going to want to try to get him signed long-term at a good team AAV. This contract represents what is probably the most extreme version in both years and AAV.

* I am assuming Nemec forces his way into the lineup in camp. If he does not we could carry two of Clarke/Holtz/Thompson instead of one. I do not believe we will be waiving Smith or Miller, regardless of what happens in camp; we'll carry 8 defensemen if we have to.

* Of Clarke/Holtz/Thompson, I'm penciling Holtz in as the 3rd line RW. As it stands at the moment, one of those three is almost certain to have that spot, though there's an outside chance Bastian ends up there with Lazar as the everyday 4th line RW.

* Team needs at the trade deadline would be a reliable starting goaltender (assuming we are not totally comfortable with Schmid in that role), a potential 3rd pairing defenseman (assuming we are not comfortable with either Nemec or Miller in that role), and a potential 3rd pairing RW/C.
