I disagree that EK added to this team doesn't contribute a lot towards making you a playoff team tho. One FA signing and EK and this team is definitely a strong contender to get into and cause some damage in the playoffs.

I think we would be battling for a playoff spot with EK. I don't know if we get in. Still weak down the middle this year. Not sure if Kasper is healthy let alone starts in the NHL, that's the real concern. Finding someone to play 2/3C that isn't a long term commitment. My #1 pick ended up in Colorado for free so that sucks.

Think EK to Detroit is dead per Yzerplan's recent interview comments. This deal is really off in return value for him. SJ is better off keeping him if this is all they can get
