With the cap situation dramatically improving in the next season. The Leafs finally win the Stanley Cup. Their cap situation improves thanks to all the team friendly contracts and high performing rfa players like Amirov, Knies, and Holmberg. All of whom will play an essential piece in the Leafs winning. With lots of added secondary scoring, and an impressively improved group of defenders, and more grittiness than ever. Along with a solid tandem of SAMSANOV and WOLL. This team is a long shot for the GM, but it’s not impossible.
The team after winning the cup continue being competitive as the salary cap climbs even higher, and John Tavares contract expiring. Tavares next contract will most likely be in the 4-5 million dollar range. So that’s at least 6 million dollars saved to the cap to resign the RFAs as well as go after more improvements.
