Love the Soucy signing, especially if that means we move out Murphy for assets.

I like the idea of Barbashev but not for that much and that long. I think teams often fall in love with a UFA who has a good playoff run and end up over paying which results in a contract they regret down the road. I wouldn’t go more than $4m per for 3 seasons. If the market dictates more, then walk away.


As for Tarasenko, Gostisbehere and Varlamov, I think they are all overpays and their signings fly in the face of the rebuild.

It is 2 early in the rebuild to be trying to hand out contracts like those IMO. I particularly don’t agree with the defensemen signings. Let some of the kids stuck down in Rockford get a chance to develop . Don’t keep then stuck behind vets from other teams. As far as I have heard the game plan for next year is to get another low pick.
