Realistic Leafs IMO

I think the possibility of Matthews leaving next season is possible, so getting a haul like this would be huge for the leafs considering he could potentially walk for free at the end of the year. Although I dont think this fixes all the leafs problems, it addresses some of the defensive problems and I think Varlamov would be a good addition in nets.

However for all the reasons above is why another team isnt going to offer up the huge value. No team is parting with all of that for an expiring UFA. And most TDL teams dont have the cap space to make it work either. Its also about timing, if Matthews is up for trade NOW, teams can create space, if he doesnt come up for trade until the season begins (even preseason, your buyers will have shrunk to near nothing)

Not saying someone wont want matthews and give up good value, but at the end of the day, hes an 11mil expiring UFA so its un likely youre going to fget back that kind of value.
