I don't mind the trade. But it shouldn't be about the money for Matthews Leafs could if they wanted about as much money as any team, it's where Matthews want to play/live/ and optimize his earning potential outside of hockey.

Kings can attempt to sign him for free.

If they make this trade and he doesn’t sign. It’s a ridiculous trade.

He's not a UFA he has a year left and the assumption would be that he signs as part of the trade. AM has a NMC that kicks in on July 1st

I think the money or more importantly the AVV should be a big consideration from a Leaf's perspective as their current situation shows.

“Assuming” doesn’t get you that much for a….again, a UFA.

He has 1 year left.
