Don't discount Schaefer, the kid can play. Puljijarvi's and Barrie's contracts both expire much sooner than Karlsson's. The benefit to the Sharks is that they can get on with their rebuild without $11.5 million tied up for the next 5 years in a very good, but aging defensemen. Like I said in the description, this will upset both Oilers and Sharks fans...probably makes it good.

I'm not saying he's valueless, although I did look at the others and there's no way that the Oilers give up that much. Karlsson is having one hell of a resurgence this year, but has been pretty quite for SJ over the past few years. If Edmonton is desperate, they add a pick...i'd be shocked to see a 1st though.

EK 65 can play. Barrie and JP are total Zeroes who just take up cap space. EK is signed ot a contract so SJ does not have to give him away for 1 maybe B prospect and 2 cap dumps
