Description
Explanation of moves: Donskoi is having major concussion problems that he is still suffering from, right now it seems like the best for Seattle to LTIR stash him for this year while he works through the concussion symptoms.

Seattle's first move should be for a goalie. With Martin Jones's .897 sv% and Philipp Grubauer's .897 sv%, Seattle could likely benefit from an experienced goaltender like Varlamov to be the steady veteran for a possible playoff run.

With a move for Varlamov, Seattle would need to clear some space, and Soucy would fit that role as I don't see him resigning in Seattle. Washington needs a depth defenseman while Carlson is out and Soucy can play both sides, so it seems like a fit for Washington.

With Soucy gone, Seattle could use another depth defenseman on a cheaper deal if they don't have confidence in Gustav Olofsson, and Stecher seems to be a cheap buy as a rental depth defenseman. He could slot in wherever and provides insurance if Megna doesn't mesh well in Seattle.

Détails additionnels:
Not sure if the Isles would consider the idea of retaining a small bit of salary, could make this a more flexible deal for Seattle.

Détails additionnels:
The Caps could use a depth defenseman and Soucy can be that guy on the right side. Would free up space for Varlamov, but hinges on Seattle being comfortable with Megna playing a more consistent role until Schultz returns.

Lou is all in and does not appear to be trading Varly, the value is not bad but most likely not available.

IMO Varly isnt getting moved but if he did, it would need to be a hockey trade.

But hey, I said there was 0 chance we trade for Horvat and here we are lol.

In the unlikely event that Varlamov is traded, do you think the Islanders would attempt to receive a goalie in return or would they be more in line to call up either Skarek or Schneider?
And with Sorokin being god-tier right now, would you consider dealing Varlamov for a lesser goalie like Jones for example in order to recoup some draft capital?

No chance we would just call up Skarek or Schneider. Part of the benefit of Varlamov is giving Sorokin a night off when he needs to, and Varlamov being a good enough goalie that we could win.

I think given we're now trying to win, we're keeping Varlamov and either letting him walk as a free agent or we'll sign him to a cheaper contract ($2-3M on a 2-3 year deal). But no, Varlamov isn't being traded.

imo a varly/jones trade could work, gives them more cap flexibility to add to the forward group and helps them recoup draft capital for a guy who in all likelihood is leaving this offseason. i don’t know if i see lou doing it but to me it would feel like a missed opportunity to improve the team if they’re trying to go “all in” and improve the future outlook. i HOPE it’ll become an option if they’re still on the outside looking in on the playoff race.
