I sure hope that Vrana can bounceback, but this is a IF scenario.

Vegas would certainly like to keep Cotter because of his really cheap contract, but if the Wings could get him in a trade, that would be great. Cotter is only 23 and has developed pretty well lately. Not expecting that he becomes a top 6 forward, but if he can develop into a good 3rd liner this contract could be really helpful going forward. A lot of big names need new contracts soon. I don't see anyone out of the prospects being ready yet. Martinez has only one year left on his deal while Määttä pretty certainly wants more term than that. Walman gets the last LD spot because he has earned it.

Vrana still has potential and is much younger than Martinez: that's why Vegas is giving up more assets.

Right now Vrana has almost zero trade value so this whole scenario is predicated on him performing well first in GR and then back in Detroit and so far he's been scratched 2x in GR.
