Description

I'm not gonna argue its better to play Brassard in the top six vs moving Pinto up and putting Brass with Motte and Joseph, but I think Ottawa's 1st, 3rd and 4th lines are all meshing really well, so slotting Brass with Cat and Giroux (they played well in pre-season) isn't the worst idea.

I don’t mind it.
Either way, Pinto is proving he can play top 6.
I’d like to see if Dorion can lock him in on a Batherson type of contract.
If he fills Norris’s void he will earn a bigger contract IMO and we’re gonna face some tougher decisions... a good problems to have nonetheless.

That's where the NHLPA and the Owners resolving their COVID debt ahead of schedule is potentially HUGE for Ottawa. As it stands, Ottawa will be able to sign DeBrincat and Zub and still afford their RFAs if they move Zaitsev, though they will probably need bigger ticket RFAs like Brannstrom and Pinto to take really cheap 1 year deals to get them through that one tight cap season. If the reports of the cap jumping by 4mil next off-season are true, Ottawa could potentially extend both of those guys to more significant deals with term. There might even be room to make an addition on the Blueline.
