Arizona isn't really interested in being good this season. They also hit the floor as soon as the sign Crouse.
Having said that, I doubt they have any interest in sending picks for guys like Johnsson. He's a decent player, but there are a lot of half-decent players they can probably get paid to take from teams with less room than the Devils. Not worth giving up a pick or roster spot or cap for guys like Johnsson, imo, if you can get a second or third or more for taking guys like Nemeth, Lucic, etc even if Johnsson is a far more effective player.
In a vacuum I think Johnsson has some positive value, but cap space is tight around the league. I'd even put Kerfoot in that group. I think he's "worth" a second or even a bit more in general, but the teams that have space aren't looking to spend picks to be more competitive, while competitive teams don't have cap or are trying to use it on better players.
Teams with space just have to be patient, imo, and teams looking to move contracts are in a tough spot.
