Description
I don't know much about the wild, but this is what I'd do.

Protect:
Niederreiter, Koivu, Granlund, Parise, Coyle (via trade)
Suter, Spurgeon, Brodin, Dumba
Dubnyk

Ideally, I'd trade Koivu as well, but I doubt there would be a taker with his salary.

Franson and Hunwick are a waste of cap. Olofsson or Reilly are NHL ready for at least bottom pair, and Folin is a fine bottom pair RHD.

Granlund is a low end 2C at best, he's much better as a wing.

Haula is the tricky one. If he'll take a ~$2m deal I'd try and keep him.

Pommer has a NMC too, guessing you had him waive it? Nino easily gets taken over Scandella from Vegas, Staal probably would too (1C's are hard to come by).

You want to trade the team Captain who just had a Selke quality season?

I don't know too much about the wild, so I'll gladly admit that a few of my picks are wrong, and I missed a few details. If Olofsson or Reilly are ready, I'd gladly fit them in.

I had a note written before about Pommer that didn't save. Yes, I'd ask him to waive. His contract would essentially protect him.

I agree on Nino, I missed him in the list, thought he was exempt (my bad). I personally think he's one of the best on the team. Staal's concussion might scare Vegas away from him though.

Yes, I'd trade Koivu. He's aging and needs a new contract next year. I'd trade him while there's value. As an 'outsider' I have no ties to him

If a Koivu trade was made (highly unlikely), the Wild have none to fill the hole he would leave in the lineup. Granny and Coyle are better off as wings, and not good 2C options. Haula is a fine 3C, but not a 2C. JEE has less that 20 NHL games and isn't ready to be a 2C. The only real option would be to sign Hanzal to fill Koivu's slot. Even that isn't a good scenario, Hanzal has plenty of red flags concerning his health. That leads to a domino effect of trades to fill holes and create new holes.

Staal and Koivu are too important for the Wild to lose. Wings and d-men they can afford to lose, top-6 centers have been the bane of their existence for their entire existence.
