also, as a devils fan you should know that you won't be anywhere near the Rangers for at least 2 more seasons, and that is if all your prospects develop, and you don't keep messing up in the offseason

First off, the Devils haven't messed up the offseason yet since it basically started yesterday with the Fiala trade. Second, with the addition of a top 6 forward, depth dman, and starting goalie, we can very well find ourselves in the playoffs this year. We can score, but we couldn't keep the puck out of our net last year because we had Jon Gillies and Nico Daws playing most of the games
