    One year of a perfectly good back-up goalie (whom we might want to re-sign) is worth more to us than one year of a bottom-pairing defenseman (whom we almost certainly WOULDN'T want to re-sign), and you can't make draft picks conditional on a player's re-signing any more.

    Half of your fellow Toronto fans may not like him, but we're not trading 5 years of a starting goalie for a first-round draft pick and three guys, none of whom is a favorite to see the interior of an NHL arena without paying for the ticket.

    Minor leaguers like Malgin do not get 4th
    Mrazek will take at least a 2nd to dump
    Cant do resign conditions but the Ducks are trading Stolarz and Gibson
    Gibson would get more then that stuff on the open market
